It seems like every few days now, we’re made aware of the latest cyberattack and have to go change our passwords. The latest one reported by Engadget isn’t exactly clear as to what has happened, but that everyone should change their passwords immediately. I changed mine this afternoon (it had been years since I’ve even logged into eBay and had to dig out my old password just to get in to update it).

eBay did post a statement on their daughter company, Paypal’s, media page stating, “Later today, eBay Inc. will be asking all eBay users to change their passwords due to a cyber attack that compromised an eBay database containing encrypted eBay passwords and other non-financial information.”

Although eBay says there is no evidence of unauthorized access or compromise to personal or financial information, I would find it hard to believe the hackers were just doing it for fun. Change your password on eBay now – I even changed my Paypal password too, just to be safe.
