Yes, the FCC may have voted to gut the Obama-era Net Neutrality rules, but the US Congress does have the power to overturn it. If you feel strongly about a free and open Internet or you’re a small business, get on the phone now and contact your congressional representatives. Make your voice heard!
Congress has already voiced their support so there’s a good chance the American people can still nudge them in the right direction. Even the FCC itself is not fully on board with 2 of its commissioners harshly dissenting:
I dissent from this fiercely spun, legally lightweight, consumer-harming, corporate-enabling Destroying Internet Freedom Order. ~FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn
I dissent from the corrupt process that has brought us to this point. And I dissent from the contempt this agency has shown our citizens in pursuing this path today. This decision puts the Federal Communications Commission on the wrong side of history, the wrong side of the law, and the wrong side of the American public. ~FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel
There are many ways to contact your representatives in Congress. If you can’t make a phone call, consider an online option.
