Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, due to the lockdown, more employees than ever before are now working from home. They have gotten so used to working from home that many offices are now hesitating to go back to working on-site and would prefer to continue working remotely.

That period, as tough as it was, gave us more time to spend with the family, learning new hobbies, and doing our work at the same time. It helped us create a work/life balance that most of us desire now. Even though it is easy to understand why workers want to work remotely, many companies, sadly, aren’t yet completely persuaded.

But as an employer, there are many advantages of remote working for employers that you may not have realized.

What are the Main Benefits of Working From Home?

There are many benefits from remote work, for both the employees and the employers, and the main advantages are as follows:

1. Remote Employees are More Productive

Yes, this sounds untrue and paradoxical, but studies have shown that remote workers contribute more than those who work in offices. And there are many reasons for all of this.

For starters, there is less workplace distraction, so employees aren’t distracted by workplace chatter, making it simple to do the job uninterrupted and concentrated more than at the office.

Employees can manage their own schedules and establish routines that both support and complement their way of life better. Another one is that employees can have more freedom and flexibility which would allow them to create the ideal working environment.

2. You Have Access to More Talent

Remote work has made the talent pools grow, which means you have access to the world’s greatest talent that are looking for a job. Also, this is good for the company because by hiring people from different backgrounds and cultures you get to bring diversity to the company.

Any company that works in a competitive industry needs the ability to hire from a wide geographical area rather than within commuting distance. The value here simply cannot be overstated.

3. It Lowers Business Expenses

This is a huge benefit for the company because a great sum of savings can be realized by hiring remote workers as it lowers the office expenses by reducing the workplace’s expenses for furniture, rent, bills, cleaners, office supplies, and so on.

4. It Lowers Employee Costs

Employers are not the only ones who profit financially by hiring remote employees, employees do as well. Employees will benefit not only financially, but emotionally too. They will get to save money by eating food at home, by not having to pay for transportation, and even not having to spend money on expensive office clothing.

In addition, remote workers can choose to live in geographical areas that aren’t as expensive to live in. While most good jobs are near expensive big cities, a remote worker can have a job in one of those cities but still live in an area far away with a lower cost of living.

5. It Improves Worker Retention

Remote working can improve worker retention by offering employees a better work-life balance. By eliminating the need for a daily commute, remote workers can save time and have more flexibility to attend to personal responsibilities, such as caring for family members, pursuing hobbies, or managing their physical and mental health. This improved work-life balance can lead to higher job satisfaction and a reduction in stress, which can result in increased employee engagement and a lower turnover rate.

Additionally, remote working can also increase employee satisfaction by allowing individuals to work in an environment that suits their needs and preferences. For example, some workers may be more productive in a quiet, solitary environment, while others may thrive in a more collaborative setting. By offering remote work options, employers can accommodate the diverse needs and preferences of their employees, which can lead to improved job satisfaction and higher retention rates. Furthermore, remote working can also provide employees with more autonomy and control over their work, which can result in a sense of ownership and a higher level of engagement with their job.

Having to replace a worker is pretty expensive, and by hiring remotely you get to save yourself time and also money.

6. It is Greener

Remotely working contributes to the Earth’s health.

Remote working reduces carbon emissions by eliminating the daily commute to and from the office. This can result in significant reduction in emissions, particularly in urban areas where traffic congestion is high and public transportation is often used. By working from home, individuals can save on transportation costs, and in turn reduce their carbon footprint, as well as improve air quality by reducing the number of vehicles on the road.

In addition to reducing transportation emissions, remote working can also lead to reduced energy consumption in offices. With fewer people in the office, there is less demand for heating, lighting, and cooling, which can result in significant energy savings.

Additionally, remote working can encourage the use of more energy-efficient technologies, such as laptops and energy-saving monitors, which can also help to reduce energy consumption. Furthermore, remote working can reduce the amount of waste generated by offices, as individuals are able to make more sustainable choices, such as reducing paper usage and opting for digital communication instead of physical mail.

What Can We do to Make the Hiring Process Easier?

When it comes to hiring new employees, we should keep in mind that hiring new people, apart from being very stressful and time-consuming, is also very costly, and hiring the wrong candidates makes the whole hiring process a “collapse”. But the good thing is, there are companies out there that can help with the hiring process, especially with the remote working method.

These hiring companies are called Professional Employment Organizations. They are a type of human resources outsourcing service and are also known as co-employment. A professional employer organization (PEO) enables small to mid-sized firms to streamline many administrative HR operations, including payroll, benefits, compliance, and workers’ compensation, and to give their employees access to better, more affordable benefits.  It is important that you choose the best professional PEO company because, after all, it is no science that the future of the company comes from its employees and their good performance in their work.

With the rise in remote employment, which necessitates monitoring compliance across numerous states, the HR duties of running a firm may truly mount up. And that’s why companies always try to hire one of the best professional PEO companies because they make it possible to attract and keep great people without providing superior perks. PEO companies as an organization can streamline many administrative tasks relating to employees and free up time and resources for higher-value pursuits by using a PEO.

Why is Working Remotely so Advantageous for Both Parties?

As we mentioned already, flexibility and cost-effectiveness are the sources of potential advantages for both the remote employee and the employer. Thanks to technology now it is possible for us to balance work and family obligations, cut down on pricey office space, eliminate wasted commute time, and improve work-life balance by having a more flexible work schedule.
